Basic Vectoring wins Best Business Game in Serious Games Showcase & Challenge

ORLANDO – Basic Vectoring, powered by StrataGem, was named Best Business Game in the Serious Games Showcase & Challenge (SGS&C) at the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) last week. The game won for transforming how air traffic controllers learn to help keep the U.S. airspace safe.

With the Basic Vectoring game, players master concepts including vectoring command phraseology, wind and airspeed effects on aircraft, and compass rose headings. Their performance-based scores from each level appear on leaderboards to encourage competition within training cohorts.

“We’re honored SGS&C recognized Rigil for this award and believe in the Challenge’s mission of fostering innovation through gaming,” said Rakhi Sharma, Rigil’s President and CEO. “This recognition demonstrates StrataGem’s power in the gamified training space. We look forward to continuing our expansion of StrataGem to university students, military trainees, corporate educators, and civilian agencies.”

The Basic Vectoring game is one of many educational games on Rigil’s StrataGem mobile learning platform. In addition to Basic Vectoring and its companion Advanced Vectoring which teaches a higher level of skills to air traffic controllers, the platform houses six games including Airspace Visualizer, Federal Aviation Administration keyboards, and a variety of memorization games.

For more than 15 years, the SGS&C has been held in partnership with the National Training Simulation Association (NTSA) to advance games for educational training. Its Best Business Game category is its historically largest and most competitive. View the full list of winners here.
